Dr. Omer Markovitch is a systems chemist whose research focuses on the origins of life and how insights into life's emergence can illuminate complexity in both prebiotic evolution and human-made synthetic systems: chemical, biological, and artificial.

His work is inherently interdisciplinary, sitting at the intersection of chemistry and biology, and centers on a fundamental question in science: how life arose from the chemical domain, and how interacting molecules in the prebiotic soup could transition into entities capable of replication and evolution.

Dr. Markovitch holds a Ph.D. from the Weizmann Institute (2014) and an M.Sc. from the Hebrew University (2008).

Beyond his research, he is deeply committed to communicating science across borders and engaging the general public with the questions driving origins-of-life research.
