Tori Hoehler recently retired from NASA after 28 years as a researcher in the Exobiology Branch at Ames Research Center and will remain active in science part time as a member of the BMS community. With a background in chemistry, oceanography, and microbial ecology, he aspires to understand life in the context of the flows of energy that both support it and are, in turn, shaped by it. Ongoing work focuses on methanogenesis in serpentinizing systems and on assessing biological and biosignature potential on ocean worlds. Beyond work, he is happiest when outdoors, especially in the mountains and/or on, in, or (as often as possible) under water.
