Aruna Devi TM, a Dr. Kalpana Chawla Scholar, is a Visiting Scholar at Blue Marble Space researching astrobiology and planetary science.
She is developing a scientific framework for detecting biosignatures of ancient life on Mars under conditions of molecular degradation. Her work applies artificial intelligence and deep learning to the search for life, from Jezero Crater on Mars to the molecular structures and sulphur cycle of Enceladus.
Aruna completed the Space Studies Program at International Space University in 2022, where she carried out a research project under the mentorship of Dr. Jacob Cohen, NASA Chief Scientist. Since then she has presented at AbSciCon, the Life and Space conferences, the Mars Society Convention, and the IAU General Assembly. She joined Blue Marble Space as a Research Associate in the Young Scientist Program in 2025.
Before turning to space science, Aruna spent five years as an IT analyst at Tata Consultancy Services, including a year in London working onsite directly with clients. This international, client-facing experience shapes her data-driven and collaborative approach to astrobiology. She is also a STEM Ambassador for Brahmastra Aerospace & Defense and has helped organize space outreach programs.
