Danna Jaimes-Fajardo is a Colombian geologist, who obtained her B.S. in Geology at the Industrial University of Santander, located in Bucaramanga, Colombia. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Planetary Science at the University of Arkansas, US. Her research focuses on studying the geochemical conditions in the past of Mars, through geochemical modeling and experimental work!

Danna worked under Dr. Sanjoy Som's supervision as an intern at the Young Scientist Program in 2021. The project for that summer aimed to indagate about the geochemical processes that could have prevented the precipitation of carbonates on Mars. After this summer, Danna joined as a Visiting Scholar, where she has continued working on this summer project, besides co-mentoring new interns.

On her free time, she loves reading historical fiction novels, doing arts and crafts (like origami, lettering, and knitting), as well as being involved in scientific outreach initiatives.
