Claire Carollo is a Research Associate at NASA Ames Research Center in the Bone and Cell Signaling Laboratory studying the effects of microgravity on bone mineralization and regeneration. Claire is also a rising senior at the University of California Santa Cruz with a major in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and minors in Bioinformatics and Astrophysics. In her time there, she has worked in many research laboratories as an undergraduate researcher. She has worked in the Millhauser lab studying the aggregation pathways of prions that cause Alzheimer’s disease, the Ares lab studying the mechanisms and machinery of splicing, and the Gaensler Lab working in collaboration with CHIME/FRB to characterize the host galaxies of Fast Radio Bursts (FRB). After completing her bachelor's degree in spring of 2027, Claire plans to immediately join a PhD program that fall to further pursue her passion for research in the areas of neurodegenerative diseases, cancer research, and immunology.
