Matthew Tomaszewski, LVN, is a Navy veteran and biomedical engineering student. He began his career in 2016 as a U.S. Navy Corpsman, working as a field medic and clinician. While stationed at the 5th Marine Regiment, he developed expertise providing care in remote operational environments for an infantry platoon. He was later promoted to the role of clinical supervisor, where he established and executed a clinic program to support 1,100 personnel both in garrison and while deployed. These experiences sparked an interest in advancing the capabilities of modern medicine, especially under strict operational and environmental constraints.

Motivated to improve patient outcomes beyond the clinic level, Matthew transitioned out of the Navy in 2023 to pursue biomedical engineering at De Anza College. His background in operational medicine led to an internship at NASA Ames Bioengineering Branch with a focus on ECLSS research and development. His research interests include human spaceflight, ECLSS, systems engineering, and austere medicine. He is an incoming biomedical engineering student at Cal Poly SLO.
