Luca Tonietti is an astrobiologist and researcher at the University of Naples “Parthenope”, with affiliations at the National Institute for Astrophysics (INAF-OACN), the National Research Council (CNR-IPCF), and collaborator at the Planetary Habitability Laboratory, University of Puerto Rico at Arecibo. His research explores the origins of life and the habitability of extreme environments, combining geobiology, planetary science, space biomining, and the study of cosmic dust. He is involved in international research initiatives, including projects connected to the European Space Agency (ESA), such as Comet Interceptor and EXTREMoon. Luca is author of scientific publications in international journals and received the 2025 Ernesto Capocci Award from INAF for outstanding contributions to Solar System research. Beyond the laboratory, he is passionate about science communication and works to share the discoveries and questions of astrobiology and space exploration with wider audiences.
